This “Meet Minnesota” post is really just my excuse to write a brief love letter to my favorite sandwich of all time. And if you haven’t yet felt a piercing desire to write a love letter or sonnet or lyric to a sandwich, then let me introduce you to the Cajun Finn Sandwich from Duluth, Minnesota’s Northern Waters Smokehaus. The Bert to my Ernie. The peanut butter to my jelly (although, is referencing another sandwich in your love letter to a different sandwich bad manners?).
You get the idea. I love this sandwich. It somehow manages to embody everything there is to love about Northern Minnesota between two slices of stirato.
And this market is a must-visit spot in Duluth: the Northern Waters Smokehaus.
Every time Darrin and I take a trip to Minnesota’s north country, we stop at the Northern Waters Smokehaus for a fresh fish sandwich and two bottles of cold root beer. Both of which we get to-go and then picnic outside along the rocky shorelines of Lake Superior. The Cajun Finn is our favorite, what with its house-smoked and Cajun-spiced salmon, but my gosh does this little gourmet market offer an amazing selection of other sandwiches and smoked meats, all of which are locally and sustainably raised.
We love not only ordering the Cajun Finn but also bringing a few salmon fillets home with us. Obviously, if you find yourself in the area, you should pick up a few Cajun-spiced fillets, but I suggest trying a few of their other seasoned fish meats…or a smoked sausage sampler.
Check this place out, if you’re in the area!
Seriously. I’m not all talk. Promise.
(Plus, this VIEW. So many hearts for eyes…)
