Monday already? The last full week of August?! What?! Where has this month gone? I feel like Darrin and I are just returning from our trip down to Iowa for the Fourth of July. We spent most of our weekend at the university reading and researching and pretending like we’re prepared for the upcoming school year. I told Darrin that I’m anticipating late nights this fall, so he introduced me to his new “caffeine poison” of choice: the depth charge. Brewed coffee with a few shots of espresso. I was straight buzzin,’ you guys. Bring on the fall.
Here are a few less-than-graceful moments from the past week!
- You’ve never experienced a trueand complete “walk of shame” until you’ve walked to and from the gym not to work out or “pump iron” or even lift a medicine ball but to clean out your cob-webbed gym locker and cancel your membership. Sorry guys, but my bank account just couldn’t take it anymore.
- To my family who was waiting for me as I used the restaurant bathroom: No, I was not feeling sick or having an “issue” in the bathroom. My only “issue” was with my bathroom stall’s toilet paper roll, which allowed me only one paper square at a time. How is that helpful and/or practical? How? HOW?!
- That time I was stopped in my own neighborhood by a woman asking for directions, and I didn’t register a word she said because I was too worried about giving her the wrong directions. The conversation ended with me pretending that I didn’t live in the area and her thanking me for “trying.” My bad, lady. I hope you found a map. Or somebody directionally competent.
- Accidentally drooling on yourself while consuming your third plate of “bottomless appetizers” is not the most “graceful” way to eat dinner. Asking your waitress for another refill on your chips and spinach dip appetizer while wiping the drool off the side of your mouth does not help the situation. They don’t call these moments “less-than-graceful” for nothin, friends.
I’ve got a whole lot of pictures to share from our trip to the State Fair last week! Darrin and I head back down to the fair again on Thursday to help run a booth for the U of MN, so I apologize in advance for the obsessive number of “I love the Fair!/I love food!” Instagram shots. To you and to Darrin. He just loves taking pictures. 😉
Hope you have a great Monday!
