Traveling Time

Sometimes GracefullyHappy weekend!

Darrin and I driving to southwestern Iowa today to spend the weekend celebrating his grandparents’ 50th wedding anniversary! There’ll be dinner, dancing, and story telling in the ballroom of their small town’s city hall, and I’m so looking forward to spending a little bit of time in the middle of nowhere. Iowa has that “nowhere” beauty that makes it such a marvelous escape. There’s space and distance and all this quietness that you can see. And the stars. Wowza. Iowa sure knows all about those romantic dirt road walks beneath canopies upon canopies of stars.

Darrin’s grandparents are farmers in Iowa, so I’m hoping I’ll get to hold a baby animal of some sort or feed a cow or something. Obviously I’m no farm girl, but it’s kind of fun to pretend I am when we’re visiting. The last time we were on the farm a baby lamb had been recently born, so I thoroughly enjoyed chasing the lamb around the yard, trying to snag a couple photos and maybe a cute Instagram video of his baby voiced “beh!” and his knobby knees. You can’t just not document cuteness, right? No matter how idiotic you look trying to catch a new born lamb? It was one of those “YOLO” moments, I suppose. We’ll see if I encounter any more of those during this next trip to good ol’ Iowa.

Speaking of states, isn’t this Minnesota state necklace from tru.che just darling? I’ve seen state necklaces either done with a wire or cut from metal, but these are so unique and lovely! I’m definitely digging the clear look. Clearly {insert your best “what-a-horrible-joke-but-I’ll-chuckle-to-make-you-feel-better” laugh}.

Have a marvelous weekend! 🙂
