I’ve somewhat avoided this summer’s off-the-shoulder fashion trend. Not because I don’t love the look (see this baby blue top from LOFT or this lacy dress by Roxy), but mostly for practical reasons. Or, what I like to call, “short girl realities.” Too much of my day is spent reaching for things that always seem to be positioned on the top shelf: books, groceries, our dang dinner plates that I really should move to a more accessible location.
Keeping the off-the-shoulder top from shifting onto my shoulders just seemed like a constant battle because, well, short girl arms. And legs.
But then I found this comfy cold shoulder maternity dress from Asos that not only looks both sweet and edgy but also frees this short girl’s shoulders without the top shelf wardrobe worry. Could this be the best of both worlds? YOU BETCHA, as we say here in Minne.
In other news, Baby B is big enough for us to see her movements shake and stretch my stomach in strange directions. A reality that you’d think would be incredibly strange but, it turns out, is just SO so awesome. On so many levels. Darrin and I always respond with a chorus of “Woooah”s and “Did you see that one”s after each kick, and then we stare at my thinly stretched, cantaloupe of a stomach for a few minutes longer.
So I guess if you’re looking for a cheap date night activity…maybe try pregnancy. Who knows how much money we’ve saved staying in and staring at Baby B on the couch rather than dining out for dinner? 😉
