Spring Prep

Sometimes Gracefully

All this warm weather hitting Minneapolis has got me excited for spring colors {melt snow! melt!}, spring storms, and spring cleaning. I love spring cleaning. There’s something about reorganizing that makes everything feel “new” again. Maybe I’ll get a little “wild” and rearrange our living room furniture. When you’ve got a case of “spring fever,” all bets are off, my friends. πŸ˜‰

Anyone else in a spring cleaning mood? I’ll admit that I’ve got a small case of OCD, so cleaning is somewhat a “must” in my mind {much to Darebear’s dismay}. But hey! Our tiny apartment is always ready for visitors! So come on down!

This week is an extremely busy in the academic lives of the Beekman household. Darrin has a major presentation and written exam coming up for his doctoral thesis, and I’ve got two papers to prepare for a couple of conferences along with a whole lot of research to do. We felt real “classy” the other day stopping at the local gas station and leaving with 3 packs of Red Bull {and some chocolate…always buy chocolate…}. Yes, it’s terribly unhealthy. And yes, it’s terribly necessary. When we were visiting with Darrin’s parents, Darrin’s mom tried to sell him on eating kale to stay awake during those late homework nights. He made the same face a 4 year old makes when asked to finish his peas. Darrin loves kale and spinach just as much as Ron Swanson loves kale and spinach, so we stopped for Red Bull on our way home. Bring on the unhealthy and unnatural sugars. I can take it.

On a different note, do you have an spring traditions? Darrin and I were talking about kids the other day {thanks to a mother who let her child wander the entire coffee shop yesterday…the kid toddler was literally sitting at my table, playing with my conference essay and drooling…} and I was thinking about the spring/Easter traditions we had growing up. My mom would throw together small Easter baskets for me and my sisters…we’d eat a ton of jelly beans and Peeps {so addicting}…dye eggs and hide them around the house…twirl in our spring dresses and make sure our ruffle socks were perfectly “ruffled” around our ankles…..spring was always colorful and full of candy. πŸ™‚ What about you? Any fun spring traditions?

I hope you have a beautiful day!

I actually stopped reading your post half way so I could email all the people we normally do an Easter egg hunt with…so thanks for the reminder!! Also, I have been crazy wanting to redecorate my house…especially last weekend when it was so springy!

gorgeous photos missy- soon you’re going to get to rock all your summer collection (i’m trying trying trying to resist not going to stocking up on shorts and dresses and sandals just yet, but it’s hard, hard hard) good luck with your conference presentation (not that you need it). and as far as traditions: time to make some eggs :0)
