Some Awesome Things Around Here Lately

I was going to dedicate this little post to the minor car accident in which Darrin found himself the other morning, and I wanted to complain and whine and rant and shake my proverbial and actual fist at the headache that tends to accompany all of the paper work and phone calls and witness statements demanded by the insurance companies, but I thought I’d break up that pity party once and for all. The other driver wasn’t injured, Darrin wasn’t injured, and he could still drive our little Corolla back home with the front bumper nestled in the back seat. I’d say that’s definitely cause for some celebratory wine and a little prayer of thankfulness. Come at me, negative attitude.

So today’s all about awesome things. Like this lovely tunic dress from Ruche. You just can’t pass up a dress with sleeves as rockin’ as these. I’m constantly wanting to flap my arms or wave wildly to strangers, just so I can get the sleeves moving. And then the floral details on the back? All I’m missing is a field of daisies and a white horse to ride into the sunset. I guess this back alleyway will just have to suffice.

For now.

So here are some more awesome things that have been happening around here lately!

Some big. Some small. All awesome.

  • Finished making dinner at the exact moment Darebear walked through the front door. My inner clock and my inner domesticity have been champs lately.
  • Was convinced that we were out of Diet Coke the other day…until I found a can hiding near the back of the fridge. I’d classify this discovery in the same category as discovering five dollars in my jean pocket {yes I love Diet Coke THAT MUCH. my apologies to all dentists currently cringing}.
  • My baby sister recently asked me to be her Matron of Honor in her upcoming nuptials, which officially made me the happiest older sister in the Midwest. Bring on the tears and tissues and ugly happy-crying.
  • We recently washed our bathroom towels, and I think you all know how awesome a clean, warm towel is as you step out of the shower. I’m convinced Heaven will just be filled with clean, warm towels. And new pairs of socks. I’m a big fan of brand new socks.
  • The sunsets in Minneapolis have been the tears-in-your-eyes, suddenly-the-world-makes-sense kind of beautiful lately. They’ve got a certain kind of awesome that tends to speak for itself.
  • A guy from Darrin’s work and his wife have a newborn baby who just learned how to laugh, and that might just be the cutest and most precious thing I’ve ever heard.
  • Because we’ve been a bit hesitant to drive our car, both sets of parents {mine and Darebear’s} picked us up from our out-of-the-way apartment over the weekend so we could spend some time together. Gestures like that are most certainly awesome. So are families.
  • I wasn’t the least bit tired or groggy for my early 6am jog this morning, which deserves at least three “thumbs up” emojis and maybe even a You’re-Freaking-Nuts smiley face.

There you have it. Just a few awesome things going on with the Beekmans! Anything awesome happening in your neck of the woods?

Thanks for stopping by! Happy Tuesday! Shop this look below! 🙂

A minor car accident does generally remind one to be thankful that things aren’t worse! And your dress is pretty fabulous!
