Most of my afternoons have been spent staring and squinting and brow-furrowing at my computer screen. I’ve had to do some major copyediting as of late, which means that I’ve been having horrific visions of commas and semi-colons and dangling modifiers dancing in my head. I asked Darrin the other day if our regular Tuesday could be transformed into a “Take Your Wife (Who Doesn’t Want To Be Home Alone Copyediting All Day Long And Feeling Guilty About Not Doing The Laundry Or Going Grocery Shopping) To Work Day,” and he responded with a “For sure!” that made me happy I married him. We decided to avoid the outlandish parking fees and biked to work — Darrin leading the way like a bike riding champion and I huffing and puffing maybe too loudly as we pedaled and pedaled and (are we there yet?) pedaled. We fiiiiiinally arrived at the university feeling both frozen and sweaty — which, as you might have guessed, is not the most desirable combination to be experiencing as you greet your husband’s co-workers good morning (thanks a lot, exercise). But frozen and sweaty and hungry we were, so our Take Your Wife (Who…) To Work Day began with a breakfast burrito date and only got better as the day progressed. Lots of hot coffee, Girl Scout Thin Mints, accomplished copyediting to-do lists, chilly walks around campus, a greasy-food lunch date, friendly conversations,…subtract my initial sweaty/frozen/exhausting bike ride experience and you’ve got one awesome Take Your Wife (Who…) To Work Day. High fives and “Let’s turn this into a national holiday” all around!
Speaking of awesome things, I had been searching for a striped shirt to add to my wardrobe for quite some time before Darrin quickly spotted this awesome top at the J.Crew Factory outlet a few weeks ago. He passed me my size off the shelf and said, “BOOM. Found it.” To which I agreed. J.Crew does it again, folks.
First an awesome striped shirt discovery…then a successful Take Your Wife (Who…) To Work Day…this husband of mine suuure is scoring a few points over on this little blog today. Geez Louise. Let’s hope it doesn’t go to his head…. 😉
Have a great day!
