Recipe Card Meals

Sometimes Gracefully 1 Sometimes Gracefully 4 Sometimes Gracefully 2 Sometimes Gracefully 3 Sometimes Gracefully

It may have taken me almost three years of marriage, but I think I’ve finally (finally!) discovered my own Recipe Card Meal. When you get married, there’s always a whole lot of talk about “establishing traditions” and “making memories” and creating those “we’ll be doing this for years” kind of routines that you can share with your ever-growing family. And I’m a big fan of those traditions and memories and routines! A paint your face, wear a foam finger, and jeer at the opponent kind of fan! And as a fan of family traditions, I welcome the whole “family recipe” tradition. The handwritten recipes on aging notecards. “Secret sauces.” Tricks for cooking the perfect Thanksgiving turkey. Sign. Me. Up.

But since I’ve been married, I haven’t really found my own Recipe Card Meal…a meal that I can write in horrible cursive on some old notecard and say to my kids in the future “THIS is mom’s recipe!”

Until now.

Salmon, my friends. I guess salmon is my Recipe Card Meal. Salmon?! Yes, salmon! We tried out salmon the other night, added a few variations of our own to the recipe, and wah-lah! We may have high-fived after the first bite.

[I’d write the recipe for you all, but I didn’t exactly measure anything…there was some lemon juice…salt…pepper…fingers crossed I can make again…]

So salmon! My very own Recipe Card Meal! Too bad no child under the age of 25 ever requests salmon for dinner. Guess I’ll just work on perfecting Kraft’s Macaroni and Cheese for now. 😉

My 19 month old daughter loves salmon and actually does ask for it! I’m determined to get her to love all sorts of different foods that I didn’t like (or still don’t – i.e. peas) until I was an adult (. Would love the salmon recipe once you recreate it 🙂

Love it! I’ll have to start my kid’s salmon regiment early! 😉 And that’s such a great idea to try out different foods with your kids…I may have to adopt that in the future! 🙂

Yes! Salmon is the best! I never had it growing up really because my parent’s never cooked it. I honestly think the first time I had it was when I was 15 (at least that is what I can remember) and ever since then I have been in love!! That’s awesome! I’m happy for you! I can’t wait to become a better cook and have traditions and what not. Those things are what make life so memorable and bring the family together so close. Ahh 🙂

    Btw, you look so beautiful!!

Hope you have a great day!

I so agree! I wasn’t a seafood person until Darrin made me try fish on our honeymoon…pretty ironic that the first thing I can cook semi-well is salmon! ;P Thanks for your sweet note! 🙂
