On Being Impressive

Sometimes Gracefullly Sometimes Gracefullly

First things first, I decided to break out one of my summer maxis the other day because I’ve been goll darn tired of this cold weather and needed a little floral in my life. So this old maxi from h&m did the trick. IΒ shared some other good looking maxis for ya below.Β It may have dragged on the ground a little bit as we took our stroll downtown, but my legs were warm and I was feeling the floral vibe like a hippie from the 70s, so I gave it the “whatever” eyeroll and didn’t care. No snowy sidewalk is going to stop me from breaking out a few spring colors and prints. Come at me, Minne-snow-ta.

Sometimes Gracefully Sometimes Gracefully Sometimes Gracefully

On an extremely different note, Darrin and I did some academic mingling last night at an incredibly belated Christmas work party. We got all gussied up and memorized our possible conversation topics in case circumstances demanded that we swoop in with interesting stories or clever questions. It’s no secret that Darrin is a quiet guy. He usually follows me around at parties or events, nodding and agreeing with whatever I say as I talk a mile a minute with one group…then another…and another. I’m the talker, he’s the contemplative listener. I’m Timon and Pumba combined. He’s Rafiki.

But lately, Darebear has been impressing me more and more with his people skills. Last night he was the life of the party, making sure everyone near him felt included in the conversation and valued as a part of the group. He’s always been good at including and “not missing” those that are sometimes too easily missed. He may not have been spouting out all of this academic, engineering knowledge to his colleagues {a less-than-impressive way to try to impress, if ya ask me…} but I was so impressed and happy to be standing beside him, holding my wine and hoping nobody cracks another science joke that I don’t understand. For me, it’s the little things, done continuously with a genuine heart, that seem to make the strongest impact.

Who are you impressed by in your life?

In other news, St. Paul was voted the most romantic city in North America. So you all are coming up for a little Valentine’s Day getaway, right? We’ll meet for coffee and I’ll talk some sweet nothings to you in my best Minnesooootan accent. πŸ˜‰

Ok Minnesota brag moment over.

Have a great day!

aww, such a sweet post. Jon and I took the Myers&Briggs personality test the other night, and while I’m slightly more extroverted than introverted, he’s slightly more introverted than extroverted. When we first met he would get a little flustered in big groups, but, more and more, he’s gaining confidence and starting to enjoy mingling — it’s really sweet to watch πŸ™‚
