“Home” has always been an important and meaningful concept for me and Darrin and our tiny, two-person family. We talk a lot about the kinds of homes we had growing up, the kind of home we’re currently creating, and the home we want for our future kids. Sure, that whole “Home is wherever I’m with you” idea holds true for Darebear and me, but building a home that is concrete and tangible and knowable seems just as important. Minneapolis has been one rockin’ “first home” for us. Last night, Darrin and I walked down Main Street as the event staff organized the area for this weekend’s Stone Arch Bridge Festival. We had a patio dinner overlooking the Mississippi, and we lingered on that patio long enough to watch the sun set over the city. Minneapolis has spoiled us with beautiful parks, bike trails, restaurants, theatres, and landmarks that are all within walking distance from our apartment {some of which are featured in my Meet the Twin Cities posts!}. We can see the waves of the Mississippi moving from our living room window. We’ve been able to build routines here that we treasure: Saturday mornings at the farmer’s market, picnic dinners at the park, evening walks along the river, morning bike rides to the gym. This summer will officially mark two years of living together in our little Minneapolis apartment…two years of figuring out who we are as a little family of two and what it means to build a home for ourselves.

So with all that said, thanks for making room for us, Minneapolis. You’ve been pretty goll darn awesome.

Hope you have a great weekend! P.S. My tank is made by The Original Retro Brand!

I love the look, and the way you describe Minneapolis, of course!

Retro Sport is probably one of my fave brands for casual clothing. Aside from having such cute graphics and styles, the materials are so soft!

Sounds like you had a wonderful time 🙂 Whenever I think of home I think of the sentence “Home is where the heart is”.
