Meet: Whitey’s World Famous Saloon

Since moving to Minneapolis, the Darebear and I have loved exploring the area around us. We’d like to be able to be “those people” who can rattle off a number of different bars and restaurants for visitors who are searching for a certain place to eat. “Those people” who have the streets and grids of the city memorized and know who’s got the best happy hour patio. We even would like to be “those people” who will argue until kingdom come about which restaurant serves the best onion rings or makes the best burgers and will not settle the argument until a trip is made to such restaurant. Yes. I know, I know. Even those people…but I promise we’ll be a bit more courteous. πŸ˜‰

We’d just like to know our city, and for the past couple of months we’ve been enjoying a variety of bars and restaurants. Last night we went to Whitey’s for happy hour and enjoyed some beer and appetizers on their outdoor patio. Beer seems to taste better on a breezy summer day… on an outdoor patio.

I love visiting “hole-in-the-wall” bars. Bars that have been there for years. Bars with “regulars” and friendly owners. Whitey’s definitely fits the bill. Our waitress was a gem, and the atmosphere was so relaxed. We went during happy hour and shared a couple of appetizers. I highly recommend the Walleye Strips paired with a classic Minnesota Grain Belt beer. Greasy food and a cold beer sometimes {ok, most times} just hits the spot.

Whitey's Whitey's Whitey'sI hope your weekends are relaxing! What is your favorite beer + appetizer combination? I think I could eat chips and salsa {and guacamole} all day. I mean seriously. What a brilliant idea that one was.

Happy Saturday!

    Mmmm, those nachos look delish!

When I move out (which will hopefully be soon, ack) I definitely want to be one of “those people!” It’s always good to know the city you’re living in πŸ™‚

I definitely agree! It’s sometimes fun to be a “tourist” of your hometown! πŸ™‚
