Meet: Rice Park

Rice Park Rice ParkI know today is Monday and I should be sharing with you some of my less-than-graceful moments from the past week, but Darrin and I visited Rice Park over the weekend and I wanted to share some Christmas light pictures before the Christmas season was over! So, meet Rice Park! A beautiful tree light display in St. Paul, Minnesota!

I love visiting this place around the holidays. It’s an incredibly romantic night walking around with Darrin, sipping hot chocolate, enjoying the lights. The large blue tree located in the park is as tall as New York’s famous Rockefeller Center tree. Xcel Energy lights this massive tree with over 30,000 energy-efficient LED lights, and I’ve decided that I would not want to be assigned that job. Major props and applause to the crew who strung those lights. I’m tired after stringing the 3 strands we have on our baby tree at home.

The park is filled with holiday statues, like the over-sized Christmas presents, a couple of Nutcrackers, angels, and Charles M. Shulz’s Peanuts characters {Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Lucy…Schulz was from Minnesota!}. Darrin and I have visited this place almost every year since we started dating almost 8 years ago.

Geeez that seems like a long time when I write it out. 8 years with the best redhead in town? Couldn’t be happier. 🙂

All right. Enough with the sappy stuff. Back to the lights.

I hope your having a happy holiday Monday! Darrin and I are currently on the Iowa farm, catching up with family and trying to avoid the stray cats that never seem to leave my side. I swear there’s a gang of them conspiring against me for some reason.

Also, the farm dog Tank brought me a dead bird today. I thought it was a doggie-toy…but boy was I wrong. Nothing says “Merry Christmas” like one, dead turtle-dove…or whatever kind of bird it was…

I hope your day is relaxing!
