Making Time

Fall

The Darebear and I have been pretty busy these last couple of weeks playing “catch-up” with our friendships. We’re pretty dedicated people when it comes to our academic careers and non-academic careers, but that dedication keeps us extra busy. And not in a “let’s try and nurture my social life” kind of way. More in a “I may have permanent neck damage from leaning over my homework” kind of way. So, in honor of that whole “find your healthy balance” movement {Man, am I using the unnecessary air-quotes today!}, we decided to meet up with friends and family on the nights we didn’t need to breathe that stingy air that often accompanies academia…and wowza have we been busy.

FallI’m not typically a fan of being busy. My mother loves to be busy, which may be borderline unhealthy if it was destroying her in some way. Β But don’t worry. She’s fine. I’d rather be busy to “get things done” so I can relax as long as I’d like afterwards. You can imagine what putting off homework or a project does to me. Procrastination just really isn’t my “thang.”

FallBut it has been wonderful spending time with these friends we’ve slightly neglected because of our fall schedule change. Making time for people, not just friends butΒ othersΒ in general, is not only rewarding but just right. It’s the right thing to do. So there ya go. Gracie’s mini soap-box segment. Moral of the story: Love others. Love your friends. Enjoy each other.

Also, on a less important note, I’m pretty stoked about “tights season” being back. Thank you, fall. And I thought I’d celebrate the coming season wearing this burnt orange dress I snagged a wonderful second-hand store called Buffalo Exchange, located in the Uptown district of Minneapolis. Total score!

Fall

I hope you all have one rockin Wednesday! I wish I had a camel to consistently remind me on Wednesdays what day it is..not that I’d forget..but just because….HUMP DAY!!

Haha! I’m not sure what it is! I just have that whole “get things done” mindset…which my husband slightly lacks. You’re so right about regrouping with your favorite people. It’s such a refreshing way to slow down! πŸ™‚
