Less-Than-Graceful Moments

Sometimes Gracefully Doughnut

Happy Monday! I hope your weekends were relaxing! Darrin and I spent our Saturday and Sunday morning in Duluth, MN. There was a lot of coffee sipping, doughnut eating, and shoreline viewing throughout the weekend. This glazed little number that I’m holding above is from Bogart’s Doughnut Co. in Minneapolis. Such a darling little doughnut shop in Uptown! When you begin your trip up north equipped with a hot cup of coffee in one hand and a glazed doughnut in the other, you know your weekend is going to be a whole lot of awesome. And ours certainly was. Pictures {many, many pictures…} to come! 🙂

Anyways, here are a few less-than-graceful moments from the past week!

  1. I mustered up the motivation to go running last week. I was feeling pretty good about my little jog around the neighborhood! I was blasting a few tunes and keeping a steady pace when I started to get the feeling that somebody was about to pass me on my route. I thought, it’s probably some ambitious high school kid training for his/her cross-country team…don’t worry about it! You’re jogging at a great speed! Until an incredibly old man zoomed past me in his bright Nike kicks, hunched over, wrinkly, and wearing a knee brace.  I may or may not have taken the rest of the week off after that “boost” of fitness self-esteem….and I may or may not be complaining. 😉
  2. Putting on makeup while sitting cross-legged on my bedroom floor, looking into a cheap floor-length mirror, would be a whole lot easier if the mirror leaning against the wall didn’t fall forward and crack on my head. And yeah, I did have to re-do my eyeliner.
  3. There are plenty of circumstances that constantly remind me of my lack of height. Trying to reach the top shelves in our kitchen cupboards, shopping for jeans, getting out of a Hummer, etc, etc…but I was sort of hoping that my legs would have, by this time, grown long enough to allow me to swing on a swing set without needing a “push”….boy was I wrong.
  4. I physically cannot lift my right arm above my head due to a sharp pain in my shoulder. What, you ask, happened to my shoulder that would cause this sharp pain? Was I lifting weights that were just too heavy? Did I pull a muscle doing an extreme yoga pose? No, friends, I hurt my shoulder skipping rocks across the lake. Skipping eight rocks, to be exact. Eight, small, smooth rocks {insert face palm}. Now…. everybody! In unison!   “Y I K E S.”

So there ya have it! More dorky moments brought to you by yours truly. Be sure to treat yourself to a doughnut today. It’s Monday. Obviously you deserve a doughnut.

Thanks for stopping by! 🙂

lol this is so funny. My fitness ego would have been crushed. I don’t like jogging but I plan to do the color run in September so I know I’ve got to start preparing for it.

Oh boy. I just googled Glam Doll Donuts…and now Darebear and I have another donut place to try this weekend! AH! So I can’t tell ya if Bogart’s is better…but it certainly is “hole-in-the-wall” charming! And I loved the plain glazed donut. Soft, warm, sweet, sugary. Donut Heaven.

    Hi Gracie,

You have a height advantage for skipping stones!

As for having a mirror fall on my head, I have never ever heard of such a thing 😉

As for it happening to me, a mirror has never, ever, ever fallen on my head
    -today 😉
