Less-Than-Graceful Moments!

Sometimes Gracefully Monday

Happy Monday! Our weekend over here in Minneapolis went by so quickly! Darrin bought a new toy for his graduate school research {and when I say “toy,” I actually mean “very expensive piece of medical merchandise than you do not want to accidentally drop into the toilet”…}, so he’s been having a grand old time looming over his textbooks and lab devices like a mad scientist. I’ve been reminding him lately that I want a puppy, but I’m hoping that I don’t wake up to a hellhound monster that he created the night before…I’ll keep you posted.

Anyways, here are a few less-than-graceful moments from the past week!

  1. Apparently my commitment to my Google directions app knows no bounds. Sure, Google may have taken me on an hour-long journey from our auto-repair shop back to my apartment over the weekend, and sure, I may have contemplated straying from Google’s path and taking an alternative route of my own design, but what would that have revealed {to absolutely no one} about my trust in technology? My trust in Google?! No…I decided to follow that soothing voice giving me directions and drive around for an hour, winding around major lakes and taking strange streets and exits. In summary, I decided to be an idiot.
  2. There’s nothing quite as magical as that bond between a husband and wife when both the husband and wife have a shared craving for pizza at 10pm so they order a pizza and consume that pizza and then, once 12pm rolls around, start feeling a bit sick and regretful about their decision to eat that pizza before sharing a bed, so they start praying that they won’t have to also share the bathroom as the night and their stomach sicknesses progress…all because of that initial and magical “bond,” that shared craving that united this poor husband and wife to order a pizza at 10pm.
  3. What do Darrin and Gracie, who haven’t gone grocery shopping in 3 weeks and literally had ice cream and toast for dinner the night before, do when they stop at the grocery store on their way home to a night free from obligations and to-dos? They buy a frozen pizza and a 12-pack of soda. Only a frozen pizza and a 12-pack of soda. Our laziness and love for junk food continues to prevail. Long live Jack’s Frozen Pizza.
  4. Late nights folding a few loads of laundry because I consistently forget that I even started a few loads of laundry has recently resulted in a complete mismatch of our socks. The laundry basket is heavy, my brain is tried, and I’m usually falling asleep as I grab one sock and wake up while I’m grabbing the other. Sometimes I’ll find one of Darrin’s socks paired with one of my socks, and you know what? There are days when I won’t even attempt to search for their matching pairs! I’ll just wear my sock with Darrin’s sock! And I’m trying to convince myself that my decision to do so is not a sign of my laziness but is rather my attempt to protest a world where laundry must be folded! Clearly it’s not working.
  5. Darrin and I ventured to the Science Museum of Minnesota over the weekend {pictures to come!}, and I found myself being bullied out of using at least 3 interactive science stations by some presumptuous 6 and 7 year olds. Darrin kept using the old “I’m sure there’s even cooler stuff over here…” line to distract me from the 6 year old who took over my interactive station, but I knew better. On an unrelated note, I’m an adult. I promise.

How was your weekend? Are ya ready for this short work week?! Bring on the sparklers and fireworks and potato salads and baseball games and grilling and family time and watermelon and ….is it Thursday yet?!

Have a great day!

LOL I love that in between stage when you want to go see an exhibit but you don’t have kids yet so you end of getting trampled because people think they need to see it more than you do haha
