Less-Than-Graceful Moments

Sometimes Gracefully Monday

Happy Monday! Did you have a great weekend celebrating Mother’s Day? Aren’t moms just the best? We had such a great time spending our Sunday running from one home to the next, visiting our moms and our mom-in-laws. Those two women have sure set the bar high for motherhood! When Darrin and I do decide to have kids, I’m most certainly looking forward to learning the “secrets” of motherhood from the moms in my life. Words cannot describe how blessed I’ve been by both my own mom and my mother-in-law. I mean, geeeesh. The blessings are just so darn overwhelming. This weekend was filled with a whole lot of love and thankfulness and laughter and good food. What more could you want, right? πŸ™‚

Here are a few of my less-than-graceful moments from the past week! If you’ve got any less-than-graceful moments from your week, feel free to share them! Mondays are tough. But they’re easier with just a bit of laughter. Even a chuckle. πŸ˜‰

  1. Darrin and I took a short break from our procrastination homework and went on a short evening walk the other night. I, embarrassingly, woke up the next morning with sore muscles and weak legs. “You know you’re out of shape and need to start using your gym membership again when….”
  2. You know those graduation parties that require you to both eat the lunch food served and mingle with people you haven’t seen in years but feel obligated to sit with and strike up a conversation? Those grad parties that require to hold a full plate of food on your lap {because the chairs next to the tables are occupied}, eat that food {which is usually food that easily finds a place stuck between your teeth}, and hold a pleasant conversation with an individual that is also struggling to both talk and eat at the same time? Yeah….those are the worst.
  3. Speaking of food, Darrin and I wentΒ to dinnerΒ at a fancy steak place the other night, and I left the restaurant so stuffed that I had a literal side ache. I’m being completely serious. I even had trouble climbing into the car. When you go a to a fancy steak restaurant, you either go big or go home, right?! Right…. “You know you’re out of shape and need to start using your gym membership again when…”…
  4. That moment when you try to send an incredibly goofy and embarrassing Snapchat to your sister but instead accidently post that photo to your Snapchat “storyboard” for your entire address book of contacts to see. You could say that I was Googling fast “how to delete a photo from your Snapchat storyboard”…I may or may not have been literally sweating with anxiety. Don’t worry, though. My mission was successfully accomplished and my dignity was saved. Emoticon thumbs up.
  5. Darrin and I have at least 4 loads of laundry to do, and, because we’re so stinkin’ busy during this final week of the semester, we’re seriously considering just buying new socks and underwear rather than figuring out a time for laundry. Our busyness and our laziness levels have reached new heights. I’m both impressed and worried about this new development. Also, laundry is the worst.

There you have it! I hope you have a wonderful start to your week! Thanks for reading! πŸ™‚

Eating AND carrying on a conversation at the same time is just about impossible, in my opinion!

such a blessing to have wonderful mother-in-laws, right? i mean, to love your own mom and then get another? what could be better? and on the weak legs — jon and i suffered from the same thing– guess it’s time to get moving (hopefully until last summer’s clothes fit again!)
