Less-Than-Graceful Moments!

Sometimes Gracefully MondaysHappy Monday! Though I’m not entirely ready for the week to start. This weekend was cozy and relaxing andΒ filled with so muchΒ of nothing that I dread the responsibilities waiting for me this week.Β But that’s what these Less-Than-Graceful Monday posts are all about, Charlie Brown! Taking my mind off the stresses of the work week for a little bit and reminding myself to laugh at my mistakes and down-right embarrassing moments. I mean, who really wants to take themselves so seriously? πŸ˜‰

I’ll admit that I’m feeling pretty spoiled today. Both Darebear and I are home due to the holiday, so we’ve got a stack of animated movies to watch and a pile of fleece blankets to wrap ourselves beneath. The only thing missing is a fireplace, but luckily there’s an app for that.

If you’re stuck at work this morning, hopefully some of these embarrassing and “less-than-graceful” moments from my past week will help brighten your day!

  1. Darrin and I have been biking to the university’s gym every early morning for the past week, and the first morning we decided to brave the Minnesota snowy streets on our thin-wheeled city bikes happened to be a dark, snowstormy morning. While IΒ lost my balance aΒ couple of times and fishtailed multiple times biking through a foot of snow, my shining moment occurred when I was walking my bike down a massive and icy hill. With the snow pounding into my face, I tripped and fell fast and hard on my butt, pulling my bike down with me. So yes, I did fall while biking during a snowstorm…but I was technically not “riding” my bike when it happened….{cue your best face palm}.
  2. At the gym…on the treadmill…in the middle of a 30 second sprint….I let out this groan that I thought was going to be much quieter than it actually was. The lady next to me gave me a look, and I didn’t know whether I should pretend like it never happened? Or act super “tough,” like I groan obnoxiously loud all the time? I instead just threw my towel over my face and decided that I was done with cardio for the morning.
  3. Yesterday, I went about my entire day with a couple of popcorn kernels stuck in my bra {I know, I know…TMI}. I didn’t know they were there until I was changing into my pajamas and climbing into bed. At least I can confidently say that I did eat popcorn yesterday…
  4. Darrin and I tried out a new restaurant over the weekend, and I wandered around the place for an obnoxiously long time trying to find the women’s restroom. I think that if I would have passed this table of eight one more time, they would have stopped me and asked if I was lost and searching for my mom. Don’t hide the restrooms, people.
  5. Parallel parking on streets that are thick with heavy snow is difficult and frustrating, and most of my “parallel” park jobs are really “diagonal” park jobs because I’ve just given up on the whole “straighten it out” idea. But you know your parallel park job isn’t going well when a homeless man starts helping you out by motioning with his hands which way you need to turn your wheel and how much gas you should give the car so you can make it into the spot.

As you already know, Sometimes Gracefully is on Instagram and Twitter, and I’d love to read about any of your less-than-graceful moments from the week and/or weekend! So share your story, use the hashtag #lessthangracefulmondays , and we’ll laugh and try to make it through these rough Mondays together! πŸ™‚

Have a great day! Thanks for reading!

Finding the restroom in a restaurant I’ve never been to always gives me anxiety! Enjoy your day off – I’m jealous!

the snow makes for such a pretty background in your pictures πŸ™‚ and as far as animated movies go, you need to see frozen – i saw it this weekend and already want to go again πŸ™‚

Oh my goodness, I love these Monday posts! The story about parallel parking and the homeless man is too funny. I can’t parallel park for the life of me. A few years ago when I was living in the city and had to parallel park daily, I racked up a novel-sized amount of parking tickets for having my car at an angle. Hey, at least I tried!
