Doing the Laundry

Sometimes Gracefully Weekend

Fall has only recently started knocking on Minnesota’s front door, and already the stresses of the season have riddled their way into our ever so busy schedules. Our graduate classes began this week, which also means that deadlines and late nights and revision after revision after revision until our eyes go swirly also began this week, and I came home from my night class exhausted, over-heated {whyisourclassroomwindowless?!}, and overwhelmed. Pursuing goals and making dreams a reality can do that to ya. Once I finally parked my car in our complex garage {we’ve got a tough spot that requires a lot of Drive-Reverse-Drive-Reverse-Now-You-Can-Pull-In-Without-Hitting-The-Car-Next-To-You maneuvering…which makes parking take, as they say in The Sandlot, FOR. EV. VER.}, I raced up three flights of stairs with the hopes of flopping face down onto our bed and pretending {with all my might} that summer never ended. I was fully determined to {quite literally} go to my room and whine. And then pour myself a glass of the real stuff.

This game plan was fool-proof until I walked through our front door and almost knocked over the freshly washed laundry drying on our cheap drying-rack. Darrin was in our bedroom, standing over a massive pile of we’ll-do-it-next-weekend laundry while an old Batman cartoon played on the television. The laundry needed to get done, so Darrin was doing the laundry, and my whiny why-can’t-we-just-drop-everything-and-run-away attitude seemed a bit more childish than I had originally believed it to be. Sometimes, I guess you’ve just got to do the laundry. And find joy in the process {even if that joy takes the cartoon form of a man who dresses like a bat}.

We folded and talked and folded and talked and decided and prayed that this new season was going to be a lot of “doing the laundry” and choosing joy while doing so. It’s good to start a new season with a “theme.” 🙂

So here are a few pictures from Instagram of things that are currently awesome around here:

Pumpkin Spice Lattes {because DUH}, Pastel Sunrises, Coffee With Friends, and Vibrant Hydrangeas.

I hope your weekend is riddled with joyful things! Thanks for stopping by!

Thanks girl! And freshly washed clothes straight from the dryer is SO refreshing. If only the dryer would also fold them for us… 😉
