So, I realize that 2013 is history, but we had one busy Christmas last week and I’ve still got more pictures to share! So, if you don’t mind traveling back in time an entire year with me, feel free to scroll on through our little Minnesota Christmas celebration! 😉
I’ve always loved the way my mother decorates the dinner table for the holidays, and this year’s décor was so simple and beautiful. She essentially “scattered” a variety of Christmas tree bulbs, candles, and sprigs of pine down the center of the table. What an easy way to dress up a white tablecloth! Especially if you’re someone like me who lacks the space to store different holiday centerpieces!
My dad’s project this Christmas was homemade eggnog. Not that sissy stuff you can buy at the grocery store, but the kind of eggnog that is not for the “faint of heart.” My dad’s recipe was loaded with cream and eggs and bourbon and brandy and rum. It had a little “kick,” to say the least. 😉
Minnesota certainly had a white Christmas, and it was such a blessing spending time with my main man and my best girls. I’m not ashamed to admit that I come from a “loud” family. Our parties are usually filled with lots of laughing, too many loud and competing conversations, glasses clinking, dogs playing and barking, music crooning in the background…Darrin spends most of his time trying to keep up with our changing conversation topics and strange inside jokes. Poor guy. Luckily he’s had almost 8 years of practice. 😉
Our crazy Christmas Day ended with some homemade vanilla bean white chocolate cheesecake and a couple of Christmas smooches. After leaving Iowa at 5:30am, arriving in Minnesota by 11am, sharing Christmas dinner and celebrating all day and into the night, we were darn exhausted by the time we reached our little apartment in downtown Minneapolis. 🙂
I hope your holiday was just as relaxing and happy and exhausting as ours! Thanks for reading! These pictures are just so last year, am I right? 😉
Have a marvelous day!
