Birthday Coupons

Sometimes Gracefully Sometimes GracefullyDarrin and I have an average love for coupons. Not the “we-better-save-every-single-coupon-in-this-grocery-ad-and-use-them-or-else-our-next-meal-will-be-from-our-neighbor’s-garbage-can” kind of coupon loving. More along the lines of “hey-cool-coupon-I-hope-I-don’t-forget-to-use-it” kind of loving.

On our long drive home from our honeymoon almost two Julys ago {Minneapolis to Seattle and back again!}, we stopped in darling Bozeman, Montana for a dinner break and found ourselves at Famous Dave’s. We were just married {obviously, Grace…geesh} and I loved signing my new name on whatever I could find: napkins, subscriptions, receipts, babies {ok not so much}, etc. Naturally, at the time, I signed up for the Famous Dave’s membership program…just so I had another excuse to sign my new full name {hashtag who wouldn’t, right?}. So now Darrin and I receive some pretty awesome coupons consistently in our email: buy one entre and get one free, ten dollars off your thirty dollar meal {which is not difficult to reach when the barbecue is so good}, dessert discounts, and more! Talk about a jackpot for two poor graduate students who forget to use coupons! Fist pump!

We used Darrin’s birthday coupon the other night and migrated on over to the Famous Dave’s in Uptown. My philosophy concerning birthday dinners is “Go big or go home and make your own salad,” so we ordered the Famous Dave’s Feast {which is basically just a ton of different kinds of barbecued meat and a whole lot of amazing corn bread muffins}, and I was convinced that Darrin was going to have to roll me out of the restaurant. I think our waiter might have been slightly disturbed by my ability to consume so much barbecued meat. It’s a gift, really. And who wants to waste a good coupon on a salad anyways?

Moral of the story: we had a wonderful time eating a ton of food, drinking some beer, and listening to the random blue’s band {comprised of fifty year old men} play on the restaurant’s “Blues Club” stage. Talk about entertainment!

I hope your Thursday is going well! Darrin and I are puppy-sitting this weekend for my parents, so hopefully the little muts will behave {and maybe pose for a picture or seven}.

Happy Thursday! Thanks for stopping by! 🙂

such a fun story, and i’m glad someone shares my love for BBQ- i never make it at home because the crockpot is literally EMPTY when jon gets home at the end of the day (my own hashtag would be noselfcontrol)

Lol I too have the disturbing ability to consume massive amounts of food in one sitting…a gift really! I used to be the coupon obsessed person but it just got too difficult, now more on your level of use it if you remember

Haha it is such a gift! And I can only imagine how difficult it would be to keep track of all those coupons!
