A Birthday for the Best Redhead in Town

Sometimes GracefullyToday is Darrin’s birthday! So I thought I’d brag a little about my main man.

My hunk of a husband has been my better half and best friend for 8 years of my life. Yikes that’s a long time…and we’ve only been married for a little over a year! But once you know he’s the one, you justΒ knowΒ and you don’t lose him.

Here are some fun facts about the sweetest redhead in town!

  • That hair of his is all natural. You might have guessed that little piece of information, but these days there are so many boys out dying their hair and waxing themselves and doing other cosmetic changes that I thought I’d tell you Darrin’s red hair has been his since birth. You should see his baby photos. Bright red hair, big green eyes, and freckles? Too cute for words.
  • He’s a Batman genius. Ask him anything you want to know about the Batman character: his history, his evolution in the graphic novel, the philosophy behind his creation, etc. He’ll tell you. Now, this little hobby sounds incredibly geeky, but (in his defense) graphic novels are incredibly interesting pieces of literature…and you can bet your bottom dollar my children will be running around the house in superhero costumes. Bring on the tights.
  • He’s got a great baritone voice. We’ll be singing, either in church or in the car or randomly in the kitchen, and Darrin will break out in this low, baritone harmony (you should hear him sing “Royals” by Lorde) that would make any gal go weak in the knees. Crazy kid. Filled with talent.
  • He’s got a love for helping others. Darrin is getting his doctorate in Mechanical Engineering, and he’d love to research ways to fight and end diabetes. He loves science, loves how the body operates, and loves uncovering new ways to fight against pain and suffering. I’m way proud.

So, happy birthday to my best friend and husband! I would not be the same person without ya. Let’s cut some ice cream cake and celebrate! πŸ™‚

Happy Tuesday!
