The Birthday Hunt

Sometimes Gracefully Red Sometimes Gracefully Red 3 Sometimes Gracefully Red 4 Sometimes Gracefully Red 5 Sometimes Gracefully Red 2

Fall’s “official” arrival means that Darebear’s birthday is just around the riverbend {or “the corner,” if you’re not a fan of Disney’s Pocahontas}, so I’ve been lately trying to transform at least one of our living room couches into a Blue’s Clues-type “Thinking Chair,” where amazing and outstanding birthday gift ideas come to me in 30 seconds or less. For Darrin, my “gifts of birthdays past” have consisted of Rock ‘em Sock ‘em Robots, a marshmallow gun, superhero video games, and Batman pajamas. A list that appears to reveal my inability to shop for Darrin outside of Toys ‘R Us.

I promise I buy him sweaters. I swear.

Unfortunately for me, Darrin has this strange gift of correctly guessing every single birthday present that I’ve attempted to give as a “surprise” {although…the marshmallow gun sure did stump him}. Opening gifts is just pretty goll darn anticlimactic at our house:

Happy Birthday!! Here’s your present! Do ya know what it might be?

Uh. Yes.

…..

Hashtag what a drag.

Nevertheless, Darrin doesn’t seem to mind that I have difficulty surprising him. And whenever I ask him what he wants for his upcoming 25th, he says that he’ll be “happy with anything” that I find. Which is really just the worst kind of answer. I need specifics, man! Stop with this whole “I’m just thankful to be spending another year with you” crap. I mean, come on.

😉

For real though. The hunt for the perfect birthday present has begun. And I may or may not be browsing this site for hours on end…searching for the perfect gift for my redheaded nerd… 🙂

How do you find “the perfect present”? Any tips or suggestions for me??

Have a great rest of your Wednesday!

What a cute outfit. I love simple black skirts. You can throw anything with them.

Haha! Pat! Would you believe me if I told you that we ALREADY have that! Haha I think we’ve exhausted the Batman market! 😉 Love it!

Ahh, I always think I’m useless at presents for Scott. Everything falls in December for us so I’ve just done a combined Christmas/birthday/anniversary/Valentine’s and gone for a trip away!

Have you tried notonthehighstreet.com? They’ve got loads of random gadgety stuff if you browse through for a while! Kath x

Oh I LOVE this idea! It’d be so tough finding new gifts for each of those holidays! I’m all about a little weekend getaway! 🙂

I love the skirt! Black skirts are my staple. I also find my man the perfect gift by picking something stupidly amazing like a marshmellow gun, something boy-ish (usually sports or nerd related) and something useable like a sweater, wallet, socks or something he NEEDS. I also saw a cool little saying which goes: Something he wants, something he needs, something to wear and something to read. Bec x

I am a terrible gift idea person, but it’s something I’ve resolved to work on this year! And for some reason I have the strongest need to watch Pocahontas tonight 🙂
