Bike Date Night

Last night Darrin and I decided to drop anything and everything we had on our academic “To-Do” list and went for a bike ride to Target Field. After suffering through the heat wave that seemed to blow through not only Minnesota butΒ allΒ of the Midwest, we felt like our relationship with Minnesota weather was a bit stunted…and let me tell you, this bike ride sure did patch things up between me and that Minnesota sun!

In case there was any confusion, my bike is the purple one with the cute little basket. Darrin has a hand-me-down mountain bike that his grandpa tuned up for him. He takes that baby to work every morning…rain, snow, sleet, or shine. I, on the other hand, prefer to bike in the spring, summer, and fall {like most normal people}, and I love picnics…so it’s only natural that my bike should have a basket. Right?!

We took this wonderfully paved bike trail to the stadium and then parked along the side of the road, taking in the beautiful weather and quiet lull in the city. I’m convinced that newly paved trails, roads, sidewalks, etc. are among the best things in life. Seriously. Who doesn’t love it when the beat-up road your driving on suddenly changes into a smooth blacktop?! It’s the little things, everybody. And when I’m on a bike in the city, there’s nothing I love more than a smooth ride! πŸ™‚

I recently gave Darrin a haircut, so I apologize if he’s a bit unrecognizable in these photos. I swear that boy has more hair than I do. Darrin doesn’t like paying for haircuts, so we use this very “classy” buzzer we ordered from AmazonΒ and I shave his head every couple weeks. This time, I might have waited a little too long to cut his beautiful head of red-hair. I had to change our vacuum bag threeΒ times. Yes. Count that again.Β Three times.Β Oh Darebear, how jealous I am of your thick head of hair!

We stopped along the Mississippi on our way back. Couldn’t help it, really. The night was just too beautiful not to take a moment and forget about everything we needed to accomplish once we got home.

We’ll definitely be taking more bike ride dates before summer is over. They can be so relaxing!Β I hope you all are finding ways to enjoy this sunny season as well! Once we got home, we weren’t really in the mood to “get back to work,” so we decided to pop in Stars Wars: The Empire Strikes Back and fall asleep…a perfect and nerdy way to end a wonderful date. πŸ™‚

It was definitely fun! And it seems like all of America has suffered from this heat! I think I’m ready for fall! πŸ˜‰
