Bear Necessities and Awkward Arms

Sometimes Gracefully Sometimes Gracefully Sometimes Gracefully Sometimes Gracefully

If we could all just take a minute and admire my extremely awkward {and sometimes blurry} arm placement in the photos above, that’d be great. These are the poses that happen when my husband starts making me laugh and reminds me of my inescapable dorkiness. Hopefully I’m not the only dorky blogger in Minne-snow-ta.

This basic mix of denim blue and black is one of my favorites, and Old Navy has a rockin’ supply of denim shirts for this spring. I listed a few of my favorites below!Β AΒ comfy denim shirt seems like a spring wardrobe necessity, and my graduate student budget is loving Old Navy’s prices. More power to ya, Old Navy. Keep those sales coming.

On a completely unrelated note, Darrin was telling me about this incredible “bear research” that one of his advisors has been conducting over the years.Β They’ve been monitoring how a bear’s heart operates during hibernation by traveling into these Minnesota bear dens. A bear somehow forces his metabolism and heart rate to slow down {18 seconds between beats!} during hibernation, but the bear is not asleep! I feel like my elementary “bear education” has failed me. I always thought that bears hid themselves away for the winter and took an extremely long nap during hibernation {oh how naΓ―ve of my 3rd grade self!}, but research {and very literal encounters with Mama Bears} has revealed that a mother bear will increase her metabolism and heart rate in seconds if she senses that her baby bears are in danger. Pretty cool, right? How crazy is a bear’s heart that the heart rate can be extremely low and then extremely high in seconds? Nature is so darn fascinating.

So with that, I leave you will a little encouragement from my favorite bear, Winnie the Pooh:

“Rivers know this: there is no hurry. We shall get there someday.”

One day at a time! Happy Tuesday!

Hahaha sometimes my favorite part about going through photoshoot photos is admiring the awkward faces or movements. I was thinking about doing a post on ‘the imperfect picture’ with all of my best….moments πŸ™‚
