Some Batman Love in Leopard Print

Sometimes Gracefully

I feel like I’m channeling my inner Batman…or Batwoman, I suppose…wearing these darker colors on such a beautiful day. While it seems like the rest of America is starting to experience little hints of spring, Minnesota is supposed to get at least 4 more inches of snow tonight, so I think my darker, somber color ensemble is justified. It has been getting warmer and sunnier, and when the temperatures almost reach 40 degrees in the upper Midwest, Minnesotans leave their jackets at home and embark into the warmer tundra sporting a nice sweater instead. We’ll take all the sunshine and above freezing temperatures that we can get. πŸ˜‰

Speaking but not entirely speaking of Batman, have I mentioned my husband’s obsessive love for the Dark Knight? I maybe shouldn’t disclose that information solely due to the fact that it would further enhance his nerdiness {doctoral student + engineer + Batman graphic novel expert = Hottie McDreamboat?}. But I’m sporting the darker colors and he’s most certainly not ashamed of his love for Batman, so I’ll tell you all about our hot Friday date nights.

Darrin has collected an extensive library of Batman comic books, but he’s also collected an extensive DVD collection of Batman cartoons and movies. We’ve got a selection that coversΒ Batman: The Animated Series all the way through The Dark Knight Rises, and you can bet that we’ll be at the midnight premiere of the Batman/Superman movie starring the less-than-exciting {in my opinion} Ben Affleck as Batman. Our Friday movie nights tend to consist of me offering a movie idea and then Darrin begging me to watch a Batman cartoon instead. And I’ll tell ya, it’s tough to refuse those green eyes. So I’ve become a little bit of a Batman dork myself, no thanks to my hubby and my desire to share in the things he loves {what a bother marriage can be, am I right? πŸ˜‰ }. He has me read some of his favorite graphic novels and will quiz me on characters or make me play a few levels on his Batman video games {Xbox controllers and I do not share a positive relationship…}. His fascination with Batman and his love for collecting comic books and cartoon series is so darn dorky, but I think being just a little dorky is a healthy thing.

What about you? Do you share in any dorky things with your loved ones? Or do you beg your loved ones to share in any of your geeky fascinations? I’ll admit that I’m a book-nerd, and I’ve made Darrin a list of all the books he has to read before we have a family and possibly become too busy to squeeze in some quality, “read this book for longer than 20 minutes” reading time. I also blog…which is way dorky. πŸ˜‰

Have a great day!

oh lordy, jon and i have so many geeky couple quirks that i’ve stopped thinking about them as such – we read the sunday paper together, love watching ‘shark tank’ and ‘the prophet’ (he wants to start his own company) and we’re both history nerds (think trips to battlefields). i like all the quirks though- batman or history or whatever it is — it makes the relationship more intimate and special πŸ™‚
