Darrin and I are so excited to announce that Baby Beekman is a SHE! A sweet baby girl with the sweetest little nose and profile. She was sleeping upside down at our ultrasound appointment last week, with her head oh so kindly pressing against my bladder (thanks, girlie), but she gave us a little wave onscreen. The nurse maneuvered that wand across my stomach and told us “Girl” right when a little voice in my head whispered, “Look there. She’s just what you need.” And how true that’s been! I flip through our ultrasound photos daily, imagining her little hands (can you see her arm in the picture?!) and feet and body plopped on the couch next to me, giggling or crying or (most likely) filling her diaper. She has her dad’s high cheekbones, and we felt the first flutters of her little movements the other morning before we rolled out of bed. Of course, this daddy’s girl tends to move the most when Darrin’s hand is pressed against my stomach, but she did give me an extra powerful Mother’s Day kick that made my heart just ache to hold her.
HER! SHE! Oh baby girl, we’ve got 20 more weeks to go, but we are so excited to meet you.
