A Few Awesome Things

Sometimes Gracefully Sometimes Gracefully Sometimes GracefullyHappy Halloween!

Darrin and I have a real talent for forgetting to prepare Halloween costumes. Last year, we went out to dinner and listened to an old man band called “The Zombies” play while we drank beer and shared a basket of rib tips. Not the most festive way to celebrate Halloween. Although, some of those men were pretty goll darn spooky, if you want my truthful opinion…

Here are a few things that have been just plain awesome lately, and I thought I’d share them with ya. Sometimes you’ve just got to show some love to the little things, even in the midst of life’s craziness. So here goes.

  1. Minnesota has been down right foggy and cold and wet, and, though this may seem dreadful, the misty view outside my window reminds me of a Bronte novel {Wuthering Heights, in particular} or an Poe story. Just in time for Halloween. Marvelous. Bring on the fog.
  2. There are enough leaves on the ground to make that crunching noise when you step on them. Every step is musical and I love it.
  3. Night class has been a drag lately, because I am mentally asleep once the sun goes down. But I have been loving that feeling of finally making it back home after class. Dropping my  bookbags onto the floor, falling face first onto our bed, and sighing a happy sigh of being home.
  4. Darrin and I have been staying up late {with the help of my good friend named Espresso}, working on academic things and procrastinating academic things, so we’ve been making popcorn at 11pm and catching up on Parks and Recreation while we share the popcorn bag. Nights with the best redhead in town sure are a blessing.
  5. People who offer to take a group photo for you while you’re struggling with your camera to “fit everyone in” as you extend the lens as far back as your arm will reach. Thank you to everyone who does that. You’re awesome.

So, there are just a few things that I have been loving lately. They may be a bit corny or cliche, but they’re still worth appreciating. Anyone else loving something lately? A moment? A movie? A friend? A puppy {I love puppies. Everyone has to love puppies.}?

I hope you all have a wonderful time trick or treating! Or handing out candy! Or {in my case} eating the candy you contemplated handing out!

I’ve been loving quiet nights with my fiance. Usually he gets home from work at around 8 or 8:30pm, then we eat dinner and then usually he plays video games or catches up on tv shows while I work on my own things or read whatever book I’m into, but nights like last night I put off doing the dishes and we just relaxed together and watched American Horror Story together and I love those moments 🙂

And also, the muggy, foggy weather we’re having this morning… it screams Haunted Halloween to me!

How wonderful! Darrin loves his video games, so I can relate. I’ve never seen American Horror Story, but I’ve heard great and frightening things about it! I’m not sure my husband could handle it! 😉

Oh my I love New Girl! SO darn funny. I think Darrin and I “wasted” an entire Saturday watching each season. So. Worth it.

i wanted to stop when you wrote “Every step is musical and I love it” because i figured it just didn’t get much better than that. wrong, it did — i love how you appreciate the people that take the group photographs too– where would we be without them? certainly not with any good group photographs around the house 🙂

It can always get a lot more magical – and I’m sure it will for you. Lovely story! And the photos are so cute! :)))

    1. Love that you compared your view to a Bronte novel. The book nerd in me was thrilled.
    2. Fall leaves in their multi-color crunchy glory are the best. When I’m walking around in the fall, I like to pretend I’m Meg Ryan. “Don’t you love New York in the fall?”
    3. Coming home to the husband at the end of a long day- such a great feeling.
    4. My theory- if you wait till the last minute, it only takes a minute! (Right..? Maybe… Except for 15 page papers. Those take all night.)
    5. I’m so glad I stumbled across your blog! If we lived in the same city, I’d propose that we and our husbands meet up for coffee. 🙂

    Happy blogging and happy fall!

Love this! We would definitely meet up for coffee! And I’m glad I could bring joy to your book nerd. Gotta love the Bronte sisters and their spooky settings! 🙂
